1. About these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and TenQel (“TenQel”, “we”, “us”), based in Lagos, Nigeria. They apply whenever you use the TenQel website, dashboard or any payment page we host.
By creating an account or using TenQel you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Cookie Policy and our Refund & Dispute Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use TenQel.
2. What TenQel does
TenQel helps people get paid and hire talent. Today that includes:
- Payment links you can share so anyone can pay you, with or without a TenQel account.
- Invoices you can send to clients, with a page where they can pay online.
- A multi-currency wallet that shows money you’ve received, money held in escrow and your transaction history.
- Withdrawals from your wallet to a verified bank account.
- A freelance marketplace where buyers find sellers, post project requests and pay for work through escrow.
- Seller profiles and VIP membership, an optional paid membership that gives sellers extra visibility.
TenQel does not currently run a referral programme. If we launch one, it will come with its own rules, which we’ll publish before it starts.
Card and bank payments are processed by our licensed payment partner. TenQel is not a bank, and wallet balances are not bank deposits and don’t earn interest.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract.
- Give us accurate, current information and keep it up to date.
- One person, one account. Don’t create accounts for other people, share your account, or open extra accounts, for example after a suspension.
- When you sign up you choose to buy (hire talent) or sell (get paid). Buyers can become sellers later.
- You can sign up with email and password or with Google. Keep your login details safe. You’re responsible for activity on your account until you tell us it has been compromised.
If you open an account for a business, you confirm you’re allowed to act for that business, and the business is bound by these Terms.
4. ID verification
Sellers must pass ID verification before they can publish payment links, send invoices, receive payments, withdraw money or sell on the marketplace. Until then you can prepare drafts.
You’ll give us your legal name, date of birth, address, a government-issued photo ID and a selfie. A member of the TenQel team reviews every submission by hand. We can approve, reject, ask for changes, or revoke an approval at any time, for example if a document expires or we find a problem. We give a reason when we do. While your ID isn’t approved, money features stay locked.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.
5. Payments, fees and currency
Fees
| What | Fee |
|---|---|
| Marketplace orders | A platform fee of 10.5% of the order price, deducted from the seller’s earnings. Buyers pay the price shown. |
| Payment links and invoices | Buyer fee: 7.5% of the amount, added at checkout (it includes card and transfer processing); the payer sees the amount, the fees and the total before paying. The seller is credited the full amount. Seller fee: 5.5% of US dollar payments, charged when the seller withdraws that money (not on referral rewards or refunds). A partial withdrawal pays a proportional part. |
| Seller setup | A one-time setup fee (currently $20) to publish your seller profile in search. |
| VIP membership | Optional. VIP Monthly: $50 · VIP Quarterly: $135 · VIP Yearly: $480 · New plan: $50 · New plan: $50 |
| Withdrawals | US dollar withdrawals: a flat $1.00, then converted to naira at TenQel's rate shown before you confirm. Naira withdrawals: 3.5%. Minimum withdrawal: $5 / ₦5,000. You see the exact fees and what you'll receive before you confirm. |
Fees can change. Admins set current fees in our platform settings, and this page shows them automatically. We’ll give notice before a fee increase applies to you, and fees already shown at checkout won’t change for that payment.
Currency conversion
If a payment, payout or fee is in a different currency, we convert it at the exchange rate TenQel sets based on current market rates. The rate and the amount you’ll receive are shown before you confirm. If our rate is out of date, we pause the conversion rather than use an old rate.
Withdrawals
To withdraw you need an approved ID, a payout country (chosen during verification) and a bank account in that country that we have verified with the bank. Some withdrawals are held for a manual check by our team. That includes large amounts, a bank account added in the last 24 hours, or several withdrawals in one day. How long a withdrawal takes to arrive depends on the bank and payout partner. We’ll show the status in your dashboard.
Chargebacks and reversed payments
If someone who paid you disputes the payment with their bank or card issuer (a “chargeback”), or a payment is reversed, we may hold or deduct that amount from your wallet while it’s investigated. If your wallet doesn’t have enough, you agree to repay the amount. Please help us respond by sharing evidence of the work or goods you provided.
Taxes
You’re responsible for any taxes on money you receive or pay through TenQel.
6. Marketplace orders and escrow
- The buyer pays the full order price upfront. TenQel holds it in escrow. The seller can see the money is secured but can’t withdraw it yet.
- The seller delivers through the order page. The buyer can accept the delivery or ask for a revision (two revisions are included unless agreed otherwise).
- When the buyer accepts, the money (minus the platform fee) is released to the seller’s wallet. Funds are not released automatically after a set time.
- Before work starts, either side can cancel and the buyer is refunded in full to their TenQel wallet. Sellers can also cancel during the work.
- If something goes wrong, either side can open a dispute. Our team reviews the order, messages and deliveries, then refunds the buyer or releases payment to the seller.
TenQel provides the platform and escrow. The contract for the work is between buyer and seller. More detail is in our Refund & Dispute Policy.
7. Rules for sellers
- Going live: to appear in marketplace search you need a complete profile, a paid seller setup fee and an approved ID.
- VIP membership is optional. It gives a small, capped boost in search. It never overrides relevance and doesn’t guarantee sales. It’s paid in advance for the period you choose and ends at the end of that period unless you renew it. We don’t charge your card automatically.
- Search ranking is based on things like relevance to the search, profile completeness, verified reviews, completed orders, response time and recent activity. We don’t currently use seller levels.
- Reviews on TenQel profiles come only from buyers who completed an order. You must not post, buy or swap fake reviews. TenQel doesn’t currently show reviews imported from other platforms. If we add that, imported reviews will be clearly labelled with where they came from and kept separate from TenQel reviews.
- Be honest about your skills, experience, portfolio and delivery times. Only show work you created or have the right to show.
- Deliver what you agreed, on time, and communicate through TenQel messages.
Prohibited services
You may not offer or sell:
- Anything illegal, or that helps someone break the law (including fake documents, hacking, or unlicensed financial services).
- Academic cheating, such as writing assignments or sitting exams for someone else.
- Fake reviews, followers, likes, accounts or engagement.
- Adult sexual content, weapons, drugs or other regulated goods.
- Services that infringe someone else’s copyright, trademark or privacy.
- Gambling, pyramid or “get rich quick” schemes.
8. Things you must not do
- Fraud, scams, or using stolen cards or bank accounts.
- Money laundering, terrorist financing, or moving money for someone else.
- Buying or selling illegal goods or services.
- Creating fake or duplicate accounts, or pretending to be someone else.
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or spam.
- Going around TenQel payments. Don’t ask buyers you met on TenQel to pay you outside the platform to avoid fees. Outside payments aren’t protected by escrow or disputes.
- Interfering with the site: scraping, probing for weaknesses, overloading it, or using it in a way that breaks these Terms.
9. Your content
You own what you upload (profiles, portfolios, messages, deliveries). You give TenQel permission to store, display and process it so we can run the service, for example showing your public profile in search. We can remove content that breaks these Terms.
When an order is completed, the rights in the delivered work pass to the buyer, unless buyer and seller agreed otherwise in writing.
The TenQel name, logo and website design belong to us. Please don’t use them without permission.
10. Suspension and closing your account
We may limit, suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe it breaks these Terms or the law, puts other users at risk, or if a regulator or court requires it. Where we can, we’ll tell you why. While we investigate, we may hold funds connected to the problem. We’ll release money you’re owed once any investigation, dispute or chargeback is resolved, unless the law requires us to keep it.
You can close your account at any time by emailing support@tenqel.com. First, finish or cancel open orders and withdraw your balance. We keep some records after closure, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers
We work hard to keep TenQel running and accurate, but it’s provided “as is”. We don’t promise it will always be available or error-free. TenQel isn’t responsible for the quality of work sellers deliver, the goods or services behind a payment link or invoice, or what users say. We also can’t control delays caused by banks, payment partners or other outside services.
12. Limitation of liability
As far as the law allows:
- TenQel isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data or lost business opportunities.
- Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the fees you paid TenQel in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights as a consumer.
You agree to cover TenQel’s reasonable losses if you break these Terms or the law while using TenQel.
13. Disputes with TenQel and governing law
If you have a problem with TenQel, email support@tenqel.com first. Most issues can be fixed quickly. If we can’t resolve it within 30 days, either of us can take it further.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes will be handled by the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria. If you live in the UK or the EU, you also keep the protection of the consumer laws of your country and can bring a claim there.
Disputes between buyers and sellers about an order follow the process in our Refund & Dispute Policy.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as TenQel changes. We’ll update the date at the top. For important changes, we’ll also tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before they apply, unless the change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you keep using TenQel after the changes apply, you accept them.
